Excuses, excuses. Uene is far from pleased and Ragu did tease him not to mess up. Double fail :P
This scene and chapter will soon be over.

In some time zone there is still Sunday, just not in the one where we live ;-) So late as usual. Sorry if somebody was waiting.

No problem, being fashionably late is in trend ;)

But I must say, I really, really love the art in the recent pages. I always liked it, but the shading improved so much here...Props to Joolita for amazing night scenes, it oozes with atmosphere! I enjoy just sitting there and contemplating the details so much.

@Fangirl:
I am so glad you like the shading! I've never been too confident with it, and lately i've had very limited time to complete each page, so i was very skeptical about the results.
But i do like the fact that the lighting makes Zenwu look like a Disney princess :P

It's really great. Looks almost watercolourish, thanks to those color strokes each having someting like an outline. Like on Zenwu's face or Uene's shoulder bit. You propably know what effect I'm talking about, it's very characteristic for watercolours- pigment accumulates on the edge of the stroke, and there's less of it in the middle. I really like this effect, because it gives an image a centrain sense of sharpness and using this here is PERFECT for portraying night-time lighting...like...it -feels- it really is candle/torch/lamp light. I could imagine it animated.

Disney princess? I didn't think so...but if you say so, then how about "Love it's an open door" playing in the distance. Seems accurate since they're in the stalls and stuff right now :)

@Fangirl:
Thank you for the kind words! The colour outlines is something all marker tutorials decry as a fault (the markers should bleed into one another more smoothly), so i'm glad it may be seen as an asset.
And as to Disney songs, if i had to pick one for this scene, i think i would go for: 'a girl worth fighting for' (Mulan is one of my personal favs...)

I...I couldn't disagree more with those tutorials. There's no objectively bad or good technique, there are just bad ways to use it, or rather, wrong places to use it? Something like that, I mean, there are those cheap water-based markers, that are said to be terrible for filling large areas, since their strokes overlap, yet there are artists, who use that to their advantage to create stripey textures...
Well, maybe it's the weird thing to talk about, since the distinction of whether a coloring method was used well or not may be purely personal, but I don't like poeple being so clear cut with something as organic as art. I'm myself not really a fan of thinking, that art should be super polished and literally licked clean to be considered good... that's total BS to me...especially when so many drawings like that become simply "overdone", "stiff" in the process, and lose that raw spiceness that was in initial sketch...

But lets just leave my rant here. I don't want to waste your time on my personal ramblings. Just know that, even if tutorials say it's a defect of markers, you made it work FLAWLESSLY - it works in the context and settings of the scene, and it works as an standalone drawing.

Well, that one was a joke actually :D I personally really don't know why you think Zenwu looks princessy xD He looks pretty, but the outfit is pretty genderless to me...ah, but whatever, I'll roll with it, lets imagine there's Mulan song in the background :D (Mulan is my fav too).

@Fangirl

Maybe the Disney princess thing is too much of our inside joke. When Joolita was doing first designs for the main cast she used a character meme, where you draw many different expressions. And some smiles came out very Disney princes or so we felt. Aio has this pretty face Disney quality and Zenwu too in our opinion and we make fun of that :P
