The rest of the camp is also in a festive mood. Just these two seem to be unable to lighten up ;)

I was waiting for the dancers/dancing people :D Truth to be told, I wondered why they're nowhere to be seen after their initial practice scene inside the main tent. I thought they'd be dancing inside the tent since they've been seen practicing there. Then on the previous pages with Ragu, Fuzs, Ulmarei and Ruiso fish-ball scene I saw something like a stage and dancing parquet, but it was empty and the party was overall pretty well-mannered XD (I know, tent for VIPs, but still xD)... So I'm glad to see all these background characters. It makes the scene so much livelier! And, funny as it sounds, I like that we can see the horse-stables (or barn? I don't know the proper term for temporary military barns for horses). I know it's propably something most people don't pay attention to, but to me seeing all these background elements is really nice. Up until now I've seen mostly tents and tents and even more tents, and this camp felt a bit vague - ok, now I realise it's kinda untrue to say though, since we've been shown Ulmarei's "clinic" tent, a place where they keep captives, the "showers" - but something now "clicked" for me, because I could see plenty of background characters doing things on their own, this barn, the weaponry...and with that really atmospheric lighting, it makes the feeling of the camp so much... firmer within this comic reality I would say. Like it really lives on it's own instead of merely serving as a stage for a characters. It's very subjective and personal comment though, not "critique" of any kind. But I really, really love the atmosphere of this page. And I was anticipating this update so much during the past week, you'd never guess XD I think I'm starting to really fall for this comic. I don't know what I'll do with myself when Joolita will go for holidays xD

@Fangirl:
Haha, i also felt the urge to draw the dancers again. Truth be told, i should be drawing more of these background characters, but i'm a bit lazy and also unwilling to make the panels crowded (i don't want the scenes to lose focus). These wide panels here gave me the opportunity to shove more people in without achieving this 'where's Wally' effect i dislike.
I was also worried about the makeshift stables - it might be too modern an idea, since the horses could just as well be left in a pen or sth, but i needed this scene to have a certain mood and the possibility of stepping into horse poo did not go well with that :D Let's just say these are the VIP horses.
I'm so happy you're growing fond of the comic! *^^* And there will be stuff going on when i'm away. We got a lot of interesting questions that will provide some insight into what the characters are thinking and some info about the world of the comic. And i promise to go back to doing regular pages as soon as i can.

I think those stables are fine as they are. I get it wouldn't be possible to build such for every horse in the army, but the camp feels pretty half-stationary with it's big tents already. And these are, well, wooden "skeletal" constructon + the tent material. It seems total legit to me.

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy your holidays :D
Can't wait to see the bonus marietal too ^_^

It's this brush. It's customary in my family for suitors to take care of the stables for a few weeks before courtship can begin. Take good care of my horse or I shall never date you!

@Frogsnack

Hahaha! That would be a perfect burn in their situation! Now Uene will be annoyed she didn't come up with that. ;-)
