[edit] the feedback to the new font wasn't all that enthusiastic so we decided to give the old one one more try with some effort to make it more visible [edit]

We are considering changing the font of the comic, because the previous one, albeit pretty, takes too much space. But we are concerned that this one may be too illegible. Do you find it OK to read?

ninak - literally the mother's brother. Usually refers to the brother(s) who live(s) with the mother of the household and help(s) her bring up her children. In the ruling families it may also refer to a bonded mate of the clan ruler, with whom she has her legally recognised children. Here Ragu uses the term in the latter sense.

This font is pretty busy too. A lot more going on than a standard font, but it is certainly legible, at least to my eyes.

Thank you for taking the time and commenting. We know the font is pretty fancy, but we wanted to make a graphic indication of there being two different languages spoken in the comic so the fonts need to differ from each other.
And in our imaginations the shape of the font is somewhat related to how the languages may sound like if that last one even make sense.

So, the main features of it's sound are sharp f's, sweeping g's and d's, and crowded k's?
On the next page, I had really trouble recognizing the word "sickly"; even though I _knew_ from context that had to be the word, the crowded 'k' made it tough to work out.
However, that may be a function of how infrequently I see the font. If I read ocac consecutively from the first page, that kind of thing probably wouldn't give me so much trouble.

@AlpineBob: Yeah, you pretty much nailed it - as i imagine the language, some sounds are sweeping, some are contracted and some are sharp. The font has this exotic feel to it, i dunno.
I know the contraction makes the k look horrid, but it wasn't so very legible even with the normal spacing... That was one of the reasons why we were considering changing the font in the first place. But the other one just didn't feel right.
I hope you're right and it's a matter of exposure. Maybe as the number of pages grows people will get used to reading the font, even just checking for an update, not reading the whole thing from page one.
I hope the font issue won't put you off ocac. We'll try to give the 'k's larger space margins in the future. Thank you for the feedback, by the way. We really appreciate it!
